First, pipe diameter is the fundamental parameter for elbow selection. It is essential to ensure that the elbow's diameter perfectly matches the diameter of the connecting pipe to avoid leakage or pressure loss. Common pipe diameters include DN15, DN20, DN50, and DN100, with the specific selection determined based on the actual needs of the piping system and design drawings.

 

Second, the choice of bending angle is equally important. Common elbow bending angles are 45°, 90°, and 180°. A 45° elbow is suitable for scenarios requiring a small angle change in pipe direction; a 90° elbow is widely used for situations requiring a larger angle turn; and a 180° elbow is used for pipe reversals, achieving a complete reversal of pipe direction.

 

Wall thickness is also an indispensable factor when selecting elbows. The choice of wall thickness must be determined based on the pressure of the piping system, the characteristics of the medium, and the operating environment. In high-pressure or highly corrosive systems, thicker-walled elbows should be selected to ensure the safety and durability of the pipeline system.

 

Material selection is equally crucial. Elbows are made from a variety of materials, including carbon steel, stainless steel, and alloy steel. Different materials have different physical and chemical properties and are suitable for different operating conditions. For example, when transporting corrosive media, stainless steel elbows should be preferred to prevent corrosion.

 

Finally, the standards and brand of the elbows must also be considered. Selecting elbows that comply with national standards and industry specifications ensures the quality and safety of the pipeline system. Furthermore, prioritizing reputable and established brands can reduce risks and costs during use.
